Based on autobiographical “Les Annees” by Annie Ernaux, adapted into a play for Dutch audiences by Eline Arbo - from which Stephanie Bain derives this English version, it follows an ordinary woman, Annie’s, life.

Five actors share the role, also playing all the other characters who aid, abuse or simply discard her.

First seen at the Almeida Theatre in Summer 2024, the original cast (until 8th March 2025, when Romola Garai leaves the production) transfer to the West End for a limited season.
