London, 1950.

Inspector Alan Grant, passes hospital time working out what Richard III really did to the princes in the Tower.

Josephine Tey's classic novel is adapted for the stage by M. Kilburg Reedy, with Jenny Eastop directing.

The cast will be:

Rob Pomfret as ‘Inspector Alan Grant’, Rachel Pickup as ‘Marta Hallard’, Noah Huntley as ‘Nigel Templeton’, Harrison Sharpe as ‘Brent Carradine’, Hafsa Abbasi as ‘Nurse Ingham’, Janna Fox as ‘Nurse Darroll’ and Sanya Adegbola as ‘Sergeant Williams.’

Completing the cast is Henry Douthwaite as understudy for Grant and Templeton; Sophie Doyle as ensemble and understudy for the Nurses; and Gregor Roach as ensemble and understudy for ‘Carradine’ and ‘Williams’.

Not available. Reports from professional reviewers are mixed. All that the monkey read agree that the staging is impeccable - set and lighting are atmospheric, conveying mood and period with accuracy.

There is agreement too on the performances, with leads Rob Pomfret, Harrison Sharpe and Rachel Pickup noted for how they deal with a constant stream of text explanation required.

It is how this text is communicated which divides opinion. The majority feel it too lengthy to create the speed a drama needs to unfold. A small minority overlook it, in favour of the fact it gives the play a sophisticated plot.

Around three stars seems to be the maximum being awarded, feels the monkey.
